Hi all,
On some sites that have ads on them, when i go to the sites, an ad pops up in a separate window, then i can close the ad and move around th esite, but when i try to go back, or get back to the home page, internet exploer doesn't budge. I can't even exit out of internet explorer, becase it justs dings and won't close, so I have to restart my computer to get things back to normal. one of th etechie type persons on vipconduit says that would make him doubt the goodness of the site and that it hasspyware on it. I think it has something to do with pop up blocker trying to block all the ads, but it can't do it when ads come up in a new window. it seems if just one ad comes up in th esame window so you just navigate past it, pop up blocker just blocks the ad with out a problem. I think this because windows 95 and 98 didn't have a pop up blocker, and although sites like freeopendiary.com and classicreader.com had a ton of ads, they didn't make internet explorer freeze up. I was advised turning off pop up blocker for those site. I went to playinginthe dard where top speed 2 is, and the ad made internet explorer freez up on me. So what do I do to get around this? I guess noone has that problem on playing in thedaark since most people have it. Thanks very much,

First, I hate that internet explorer popup blocker, and use it only as a last resort.
Secondly, try this. Go to one of the sites that freezes explorer and do an insert+v to bring up the verbosity settings. Type the letter s in the list you get until you see "style sheet processing" and make sure it says "top level style sheets". Try the different options there, and see if that helps. When you see a setting that seems to help do a shift+insert+v to create a personal setting for that site.

Have you deleted your cashe? Like deleting the cookies and files. I've never had a problem with IE and the popup blocker and I'm using the one with xp.

Also, when you get to one of those sites press control+v and type the letter r for refresh flash movies, hit spacebar until it says off.
Press up arrow I think that one is refresh page, and turn that one off too.
Then press down arrow twice to flash movies and press space bar until that is off.
Sorry, I'm not sure of the order they come in. But that might help.

well, I'm not sure any of those have anything to do wit hit. I've emptied my cache before, but not before goiong to one of those sites. I did press s til i came to that styles sheet thing, and chose to ignore all, thinking maybe styles sheet had something to do with it, but that didn't help. I think i'll just wait til i run in to kelly sapergia on vipconduit, and find out if he ever had that problem and what he did about it, since he did a review of top speed 2 on a games event he did. thanks,
